Mumbai Airport Design

mumbai-airport-gandhi.jpg

I took this picture 2 month ago in Mumbai airport just one week after the terrible attacks in the city. I really like the lightness of the design. It uses lots of whitet space and a very decent and subtle color palette excluding black. The mandala-symbols used on the right and left side of it give it the necessary cultural indian touch but neverthelss it feels quite international.
They seem to use these designs with citations from different known Indians such as Mahatma Gandhi throughout the whole airport so there is a strong feeling of consistency. It was developed by the Argentinian design studio Steinbranding, who also worked on Ezeiza Airport in Buenos Aires and Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport.
Well done guys.

I found these flying Buddha silhouettes at the chilling lounge very funny.

The quotes are well designed but I think they are a little out of place inside the otherwise undesigned environment.
So, one of these elements is inconsistent! ;)

About me

I am a Communications Designer dedicated to the practice of love and Kriya Yoga in all aspects of life to achieve spiritual growth and to regain freedom and strength to reach oneness with God/the Divine through Maha Samadhi as described in ancient scriptures.

I operate www.designforunity.com to share creative bits and insights about my spiritual life, social design and my work.

What is a spiritual life?

A truly spiritual life has nothing to do with churches or sects. Above all it is about loving action and a loving attitude towards all creation. So it takes place in the streets and warzones where people fight each other and are too greedy to share and too aggressive to reconcile. Thus a spiritual lifestyle is one that improves our world.
