Spiritual life

Living life spiritually = simple life = happy life

How do you live in comparison to these people in northern India? What do we really need to be happy???

How do you live in comparison to these people in northern India? What do we really need to be happy???

Leading a spiritual life is not about visiting church or spending time in an Ashram. It is about understanding the serious situation in this world and realising that finally the only real solution is love. It entails being of help whereever possible and living spiritually therefore never is about persuing material success or power.

In many countries i have witnessed something very simple being true most times: The more people have, the more problems they create and the less happy they are.

Some of the poorest people in Slums in india or South east asia smile the most and will tell you that they are happy much more often than richer ones. Why? Because they grow up in tough conditions in poor environments and have no 32 inch widescreen TV and a playstation 3 and a fridge with buit in TV.

From the very beginning of their lifes they learn about the importance of sharing and that they need to work hard. They share even with richer ones as you will notice if you walk through these areas and because they make others happy they themselves are much happier than any 3000+ $/month CPA in NYC.

They may be much more spiritual than any bishop has ever been and they understand the real importance of a loving community.

So maybe we don’t need all the stuff we accumulate over the years … Maybe it is time to stop seeking fulfilment and happiness outside ourselves and to reduce all this to what is really necessary and to start progressing towards a peaceful and loving society.

The more we have the greedier we usually become and the greedier we will be the less happiness will be there because we will have an ever increasing desire for more
but
If we start to create happiness in others and focus on love as the key solution to happiness rather than expecting to be made happy ourselves or seeking fulfilment in material goods everyone will eventually be happy.

You can only receive as much as you give.
This is very much true for everything.

This also means that a truly spiritual life can never be about hiding in the Himalayas or some monastery because we have far too many serious man-made problems to work on and to prove that we ARE spiritual and can give no matter the amount.

So the simpler we live the less we are distracted from understanding
the importance of love and the happier everyone will be.

Especially in the ongoing economic melt down rethinking our own way of life is more important than ever.

We need to stop living at others and especially at the planets cost. Leading a truly spiritual life can only be of beneift for everyone and can never be at anyones expense whatsoever.

Finally we are all made spiritual beings and therefore have the duty to live up to the principles of love. Anything else will always end in trouble, cause life to get more complicated, less spiritual and less happy.
